GPSL O40 Recap: April 11 - MLSA Legends vs Dynamo United

On Saturday, we kicked off the new season of the Greater Pittsburgh Soccer League's O40 Bundesliga division (3rd tier). Our MLSA Legends squad, coming off last season's championship game appearance, falling just short in the late stages of that game, took on a Dynamo United squad that was freshly relegated from the Serie A division (2nd tier).

The Legends opened up the scoring, when newly eligible Justin played a long ball into the box that floated a bit and found the back of the net.

That score held until halftime, but in the third quarter Dynamo evened it up on a header coming off a quality corner delivery.

However, a few minutes later, the Legends regained the lead as I picked up my first goal in the league on our own corner play, with Will just clearing the goalie and me beating the defender to the spot to deflect the ball in.

The Legends continued to control the play into the fourth quarter, when Geoff broke through the defense, and drew the goalie out and passed across to Will for the insurance goal, leading to a 3-1 victory for the Legends.

Overall, a great way to start the season against new competition!
