The Roxian: A Pittsburgh Gem
I've been living in Pittsburgh for 24 years now, and The Roxian is one of my favorite places in the city. Originally built in 1929, the 1400 capacity venue went from stage to movie theater to banquet hall to empty, when in 2017 it was reopened as a concert venue.
While not large, it's a fantastic venue. The header image from this article is from last week's Our Lady Peace show, and I was only a few rows from the back with that view. Besides being a great and intimate venue (with live music better mixed than I've heard anywhere else in the city), it also has the cleanest bathrooms I've seen at a concert venue, and there's a full bar accessible on every floor of the building. On top of that, there are free municipal lots for parking just behind the building.
So far, I've made it 3 times over the last 2 years (Bayside/Finch/Armor for Sleep/Winona Fighter in 2024, Silversun Pickups/Girl Tones in 2025, and Our Lady Peace/The Verve Pipe last week), and it's always been a great experience. If you get the chance to go, I highly recommend it.
